Govt threatned to put restrictions on online activities. What is your point of view?

The Central Govt of India has threatened to take steps to censor the 'objectionable' online contents shared via google or facebook or sites like that. But they did not define the term 'objectionable'. It may turn out to be any content which some person in the Govt or some leader finding not according to their consent and hence declared as objectionable! It could be any writing criticizing the Govt policy, and they proceed to block it cause it was objectionable. In India we talk about freedom of speech, then what is the reason for such censorship? Are they going to make India a second China?

For people like us the online world carries a highly significant role in expressing our views on different issues and sharing the same. Here we can express our feelings, our thoughts, to the fullest extent which may not be possible in real life due to several reasons which vary from person to person. For so many people the online world has created a separate space which they can monitor and live according to their own will hiding from the ever fault-catching eye of the so-called society.

The main reason for the Govt in taking  the steps is the abuse of their leaders through nasty pictures or other media. And the other is use of abusive languages towards a certain religion. But this also be taken into account that not all people are sharing or encouraging such mindless and very badly humoured jokes. General people do not appreciate such low-class activities. It's only a fraction of internet users who get some fun out of those abusiveness. They are the rotten part of the online society which is needed to take care of. By monitoring the tracking facilities it is always possible to locate the origin of such abusive contents and the creator could be prosecuted in a court of law. But that could not lead to taking steps against social networks by some unjust means. People of that kind would always found some other form of medium to spread their contents. So mere blocking or censoring would not prevent them.

In this ever increasing stressful world the social networks provide us some place to breathe . Please do not take any step that could take our free world away. And to the social networks, please do not fall back from your firm stand. Do not let the state snatch our right to freedom of speech.

We need to find our uniqueness.

We all had an affinity towards some kind of popularity. We all want to get noticed. We all want to be the charm of a gathering, the One! But most of us failed to do so. Why?

There's a simple reason, we all want to be someone else rather than whom we are. Often we see a person surrounded by his followers and we tend to place ourselves at the position of that particular person, and dream to be like him. This is seen very clearly when someone follows the style of some movie star or a famous person of that kind. In India, young people cut their hair like their idols, talks the way their heroes did, but seldom do the hard work like them which is needed to succeed. We can talk like Shah Rukh Khan but we cant be him. He is one of his kind. Similarly, we all are unique, just need to find our uniqueness.

A Peaceful Treaty with the Maoists: Do we need it?

Maoist leader Kishenji was shot and killed after an encounter with the joint-armed forces. Forces are also hunting for other leaders like Suchitra Mahato etc.Some people are saying that the progress of a peaceful treaty with the maoists is going to hamper due the killing of their leader, Kishenji. But a peaceful treaty with the maoists is ever going to be a useful one? Were the Maoists ever been peaceful? Can they even be trusted?

There can never be a peace treaty with the maoists. They just kill innocent people and keep killing them in the name of rebellion. But I dont know what kind of rebellion justifies such massacres. For the past two years, they had ruined so many families, either by killing a member of the family or by killing the whole family. Many children lost their parent, parents lost children, wives lost husbands in the hands of those cold blooded killers. Actually the term killing itself seems to lose it’s violence before the activities of those manslaughters, who for the sake of themselves made these terrific incidents happen.

Our beloved Chief Minister is doing the right thing. The maoists came to treaty only when there is some lack of arms and ammunitions and their supply chain is in problem. During treaty they re-organize themselves and suddenly emerges breaking the treaty by killing someone or some more, who may not even heard of general Mao or his resolutions. Those maoists deserves only one treatment, that is being hunted down like a mad dog. Any more capture and imprisonment would only be wasting of public money which could other wisely be used rather than providing shelter to them who are responsible for taking the shelter out of many law-abiding families and making a whole generation of them orphans. Those Orphans had nowhere to go, no one to help and nothing to do except begging or close to that.

We, the people of the land of Gandhi, Buddha do not believe in the language of violence. But some situations arise when the pillars of patience tend to break. The present time is one such, when the lives of general citizen are in stake, no more fancy treaty are needed. Just need to hunt those sewer rats and make the life of people safer.

গঙ্গা অ্যাকশান প্ল্যান ও স্বামী নিগমানন্দ।

গঙ্গা অ্যাকশান প্ল্যান-এর ব্যাপারে আমরা কম বেশী সবাই জানি। যদিও এই প্ল্যান কতটা সফল বা আদৌ সফল কি না সেটা সময়ই বলবে। এখানে আমি যা বলতে চাই তা অন্য।

১৯৮৫ সালে তৎকালীন প্রধানমন্ত্রী রাজীব গান্ধী এই প্ল্যান-এর সূচনা করেন। এরপর ১৯৯৩ সালে যমুনা , গোমতী ও দামোদর নদী গুলিকে এই প্ল্যান-এর আওতায় আনা হয়। ১৯৯৫ সালে এর নাম পরিবর্তন করে (NRCP) National River Conservation Plan রাখা হয়। ২০০০ সালে গঙ্গা অ্যাকশান প্ল্যান-এর প্রথম পর্ব শেষ হয়। যদিও সরকারি মতে এই প্ল্যান তার পূর্ব নির্দিষ্ট লক্ষ্যমাত্রায় প্রায় সফল তবু গঙ্গার জলের দূষণ কতটা কম হয়েছে তা নিয়ে সন্দেহের অবকাশ থেকেই যায়।

তা সে যাই হোক, GAP বা NRCP, এরা বড় বড় ব্যাপার, আমরা আদার ব্যাপারী জাহাজের খোঁজ নিয়ে কি কাজ? তবু একটু কোথাও যেন খটকা লাগে। গত ১৩ই জুন,২০১১ দেরাদুন-এ স্বামী নিগমানন্দ প্রয়াত হন। কে এই নিগমানন্দ? নিগমানন্দ, বয়স ৩৪, মাতৃ সদন নামে একটি সেবা সংস্থা'র সদস্য। মাতৃ সদন গঙ্গা উপত্যকায় বেআইনি খোঁড়াখুঁড়ি তথা পাথর কাটার প্রতিবাদে বহুদিন থেকেই আন্দোলন করে আসছে। বেআইনি খোঁড়াখুঁড়ি তথা পাথর কাটার ফলে গঙ্গার যে বিপুল দূষণ, তার প্রতিরোধ ও ওই সব কার্যকলাপ বন্ধ করার জন্য মাতৃ সদন বরাবরই সচেষ্ট। ২০০৮ থেকে মাতৃ সদন-এর বেশ কয়েক জন সদস্যের পর্যায় ক্রমে অনশন ও সত্যাগ্রহের ফলে বেআইনি কাজ কারবার মাঝে মাঝে কিছুদিন করে বন্ধ থাকলেও তা ফের শুরু হয়। শুরু হওয়ার পিছনে কাদের মদত আছে তা তদন্ত সাপেক্ষ হলেও অনুমান করা কঠিন নয়। অবশেষে স্বামী নিগমানন্দ ১৯শে ফেব্রুয়ারী অনশন শুরু করেন যা শেষ হয় ১৩ই জুন, তাঁর মৃত্যুতে। যদিও এই ব্যাপারে সরকারের খুব একটা মাথা ব্যাথা দেখা গেছে, এমন বদনাম অতি বড় নিন্দুকও দেবেন বলে মনে হয় না।

এই একটি ঘটনা একটা প্রশ্ন তুলে দেয়। গঙ্গাকে দূষণ মুক্ত করতে আমরা কি সত্যিই আগ্রহী? যদি একটু সততা আমাদের মধ্যে থাকত, অন্তত যাঁরা GAP'র সাথে জড়িত, তাহলে হয়ত ওই তরুণ সাধুকে তাঁর প্রাণ হারাতে হত না। দেশ তথা দেশের মানুষের জন্য তাঁর এই আত্মত্যাগ আমাদের অগোচরেই রয়ে গেল অথচ আমরাই বলি "মেরা ভারত মহান।" সত্য সেলুকাস, কি বিচিত্র এই দেশ।
